Home schooling or homeschooling, also called elective or compulsory home schooling, is the schooling of minor children at home, or several locations other than the school. Parents who are not teachers can also enroll in home schooling programs. The primary reason for home schooling is to provide a nurturing environment for the children, rather than a classroom where the children are subject to time-bound reading and study sessions. Home schooling, though it is not formally recognized by any governing association, is widely considered as a private choice by parents who want to educate their children at their own pace and in the privacy of their home. It is also preferred over public school because students are not required to submit to any educational curriculum dictated by the state. However, most home schools follow the same curriculum as public schools.
